Lisas' Linen Mix
In this business it's not often I'm a wedding guest, so you can imagine, it was wonderful attending my cousins wedding yesterday. She's not only a beautiful creature on the outside but on the inside as well. Lisas' linen mix of bold eggplant with calm sage speaks to the woman she has grown into and her handmade centerpieces show how elegant this color combo really is. Congrats Lisa and Rommell, we love you tons!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee's favorite finds are the LEGACY OF CLEAN PreWash Stain Treatment and Detergent.
This bad boy gets out wine, food stains and shoe polish!
Conventional detergents can contain ingredients that aren't good for you, your clothes, or aquatic ecosystems where the dirty water we wash down the drain can end up. Phosphates in conventional laundry soaps can cause algal blooms that negatively effect ecosystems and marine life. To shop for more eco-friendly detergents, look for labels that indicate a product is readily biodegradable and phosphate-free, and made from plant- and vegetable-based ingredients (instead of petroleum-based), which means they?re healthier for the planet, from production to rinse cycle.
Top Green Laundry Tips:
-Make your own laundry detergent
Liquid Detergent
1 quart water (boiling)
2 cups bar soap (grated)
2 cups borax
2 cups washing soda
1. Add finely grated bar soap to the boiling water and stir until soap is melted. You can keep on low heat until soap is melted.
2. Pour the soap water into a large, clean pail and add the borax and washing soda. Stir well until all is dissolved.
3. Add 2 gallons of water, stir until well mixed.
4. Cover pail and use 1/4 cup for each load of laundry. Once it's cool, add 5 - 7 drops of your favorite essential oil per gallon. Stir the soap each time you use it (it will gel).
Powdered Detergent
2 cups finely grated soap
1 cup washing soda
1 cup borax
1. Mix well and store in an airtight plastic container.
2. Use 2 tablespoons per full load.
-Choose concentrated detergent
-Maximize your washer for energy efficiency
-Maximize your dryer
-And if you know me well, my all time favorite..Don't iron if you don't have to!!!!!!

The Real Dream Weavers
August 18th 2007 the day after Hurricane Dean gave the Island a lashing we pulled off a magnificant wedding transforming Orchid World from a scene much like this:-
to this.
Three years later and in a similar situation with guests arriving from several continents we were faced with the same dilema, we had to advise our clients that their wedding simply couldn't happen on the day they wanted. In 2007 Dean decided to spare the Island moving on to damage much of the caribbean, allowing our clients then to have their dream wedding on the day they wanted. However Tomas, tropical storm or hurricane ....yet to be decided..... as it passed over Barbados did not allow us, or our clients this luxury. With the cake being delivered and the Government issuing a tropical storm warning at the same time we had to advise our client that their wedding had to be delayed for 24hrs. We can only imagine the internal torment that this, not wholly unexpected decision must have forced on the couple and their family however they remained as implacable and humourous as they had been since we first met them. Their dream wedding was conducted under watery sunshine in the setting they had dreamed of, 24hrs after the all clear was given, whilst we thank them for their patience and understanding, niether of these weddings could have gone ahead without the full support and heroic efforts of the team at Orchid World our team and the following list of suppliers.
- Ellco(Josh and Team)
- Quality Occasions (Joanna and Team)
- Jerry Marshall(Minister)
- Pearson the DJ who magically appeared with a generator
- Omar Haynes (Pan Player)
-Robert Hinds and his team from Amazing Images
- Esline Johnson and her team at Draytons Transport, (who would have come out on Saturday if we still wanted them to.)
-Team at Orchid World
Steve & Cecille Barnett
Nic
Nicole
T bert
Schundell
Deborah
Adrian
Clifton
Andrew
-Sanojah's Team
Natalia
Shane
T bert
Alexa
Nadia
Laura
And all those family and friends of our team who enabled them to change their plans the day after the worst weather in a generation. Our last but most important thanks go to The Good Lord who in his infinite wisdom inclined to part the clouds and at the same time bring light and power to Michelle and Brian's most blessed day. Our thoughts and prayers go to the persons killed through out the caribbean and to those injured, made homeless and agrieved by the passing of Tomas. Also on the day of the funeral of our dear Prime Minister all at Sanojah's wish to send his surviving family and friends our support and heart felt wishes of condolence.
