Hmm! What to Wear

What to wear at your wedding is not the easiest question to answer. No - it's not only the bride who worries about what she wears on that big day. Yes - all eyes may be turned to the bride, but the groom and his entourage can't come dressed in any attire.

For the groom, selecting his attire depends on the formality of the ceremony. A formal or semi-formal wedding requires the groom to wear a tuxedo or suit, and it can be black, white, or gray but should be smart. And NO! smart does not include leaving the tag on the sleeve gentlemen.

Tuxedos can be reserved/rented, but it is a better idea to have them custom-made to make sure there is a perfect fit. This can be more expensive but you will ensure a great look not to mention great compliments from the guests.
Remember the bride is the star of the show but you are her consort - it's best to look the part on her special day.

A casual wedding requires the groom to wear a smart shirt, it can be pink (yes pink!) striped, black, white, or gray but should be smart. He can wear linen pants or chinos and a comfortable casual shoe to compliment his outfit. Check out www. gantuk.com or www.jcrew.com (my favorites) to create a trendy, classically preppy wedding look.

These Gant Guys agree "real men wear pink"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David & Shondelle say I Do at Orchid World

Our garden wedding ceremony and reception was on January, 2nd, 2010. It was glorious and so beautiful it took our breath away.

From day one on meeting with Ralph then Lee-Anne, their professionalism proved to us that we had made our first and last stop in looking for a wedding venue.

They were very understanding to our needs for such an intimate setting.

We were able to work around a budget and still be able to have a stunning evening of elegance.

David and I were allowed to customized the menu to our standards. The menu was exotic Caribbean cuisine with an old fashion homemade treat, Souse (lovely).

Sanojah's supplied us with mouthwatering tastes, leaving us with a feeling that "Today was a great day."

The entire evening we were praised by our guests for choosing such a beautiful venue.

If you are planning wedding with a difference in mind, Orchid World offers an elegant, intimate setting all wrapped in one.

Thank you so much Sanojah's.

Eco Friendly tips for your Garden Wedding

1- Choose a venue that can accomodate both your Ceremony and Reception. It's cost effective and less travel for your guests.

2-Consider buying a Second Hand Wedding and Bridesmaid Dresses. Check out www.vintageous.com for some gorgeous vintage gowns.

3-Purchase consumable favors they are earth friendly and cost less. Beeswax candles and hand made soaps, cookies and candy. Use brown paper bags for your candy buffets instead or organza or tulle. Encourage your guest to start Eco- friendly lifestyles
have seed packets for them to plant.

4-Decrease your carbon imprint,choose a locavore caterer.
A "locavore" is someone who eats food grown or produced locally or within a certain radius such as 50, 100, or 150 miles. Don't forget to offer your guest vegetarian choices.

5-Use china dishes, flatware, cloth napkins and glasses instead of plastic. It's not only more elegant, it saves on waste.

6-Go small. The smaller the guests list, the less they'll consume and the less garbage they'll created, also the less fossil fules that will be used.

7-Go green for your garden wedding, use eco-friendly decorations like rice instead of artificial petals.
Forget confetti and balloons, however if you're feeling confetti, use fresh flower petals. Think about our landfill avoid balloons when decorating.

8-Choose a venue with designated footpaths to avoid guests getting lost and trampling on the lawns.

Out-the-box Centerpieces

So, you're flipping through pages of the latest wedding magazines, bombarded with larger than life images of centerpieces, you want to splurge on your wedding flowers, but you don't have the funds for an expensive flower designer to create them?

Who says you have to? Centerpieces can be just as dramatic and offer that sought after wow factor if you just think outside the box.

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But just think of what you can save using them for your centerpieces. Contact your local fruit wholesaler to purchase apples by the case, then for that pop of color add an inexpensive tropical flower like a ginger lily instead of imported roses.

Treat your guests to a pre dinner snack masked as a name card holders.

If yellow is your colour and lemons are in season then make topiaries. This lemon and bayleaf topiary is a great centerpiece. Even if it mean hunting down some bayleaf trees it's worth the adventure not to mention the aromatherapy your guests will enjoy.

Spray paint a dried branch or drift wood to match your colour palette, visit your local craft store for butterflies or birds to accent your branches and you've got the prefect centerpiece to compliment your garden themed wedding.
