Know your chafing pan from your hot box

When booking a wedding consultant or wedding planner find a full time professional who knows the venue you've decided on. Your wedding is the most important event you'll plan, so leave it to professionals, and NOT to someone who does it as a weekend hobby...the last thing you need is your big day ruined.

Being a wedding planning planner certainly isn't about hanging tulle and walking around with a clip board. It's not a job, but a vocation that calls for service oriented, common sense infused, logistical thinkers with experience in the food and beverage industry.
Understanding the entire make up of a wedding is absolutely necessary.
As a client you need to be looking for a professional who:
- DOESN'T ONLY DO WEDDINGS AS A WEEKEND HOBBY
- or flashes her "I'M A CERTIFIED WEDDING PLANNER" banner in your face but doesn't know her chafing pans from her hot boxes.
As a budding wedding planner/event coordinator/party planner DON'T get into the business of planning weddings if you aren't willing to get dirty and infuse yourself into every aspect of the event.
If your name is Elaine don't call yourself "ellene" and leave the red pants suit and 4inch heels at home.....REMEMBER!...this is the most important day for your clients and not about you making a spectacle of yourself or about "pom-pah-setting" to your clients demise.
Make no mistake it's hard work and long hours putting any event together, but you only get one chance to get a wedding right... so leave your egos at home, get out your builders boots and find that elbow grease, cause we've got a wedding to put on!
